The participants in the Synod on New Evangelization praised the Christians of South Sudan for their witness during the hardships of war.
Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala of Tombura-Yambio Ð who was at the Synod Ð told CRN that the Synod fathers appreciated the legacy of faith in South Sudan despite attempts to delete Christianity in the country before independence.
He said the Pope and the Synod fathers advised South Sudanese to continue bearing witness to Christ.
Bishop Hiiboro called on believers to keep the dignity of Christian commitment in everyday life.
He explained that it was not enough to fill the churches on Sunday but Christians should stop beatings, killings and other bad practices to keep the discipline of faith.
Bishop Hiiboro called on all the people of South Sudan to imitate the way of Christ.
The bishop of Tombura-Yambio represented South Sudan and Sudan at the Synod on the New Evangelization for the Transmission of the Christian Faith that took place at the Vatican from October 7 to 28.
