Rebels have claimed that they shot down a Sudanese Antonov military aircraft East of Lake Jau, in the South West of Nuba Mountains.
SPLM-N spokesman Arnu Ngatulu Lodi announced the downing.He claimed that the Air Force plane bombed several locations of the Nuba Mountains killing two people and injuring another two before being shot down.
The bombed areas included Salara, Habila and Heiban counties.
The government of Sudan did not confirm the claim.
Antonovs are Russian and Ukrainian made transport aircraft that Sudan converted for military use to drop bombs from high altitude.
