False allegations of militia recruitment in Eastern Equatoria are scaring away potential investors and other foreigners.

Governor Louis Lobong Lojore was accused by Michael Losike, a member of the Council of States, of organizing a militia force with an unnamed senior political figure in remote areas of the State.

Mr Lobong told churchgoers on Sunday in Torit that the accusation could have a negative impact on potential investors in the state.

He said he was innocent and did not fear to answer the charges.

Mr Lobong called for a collective effort to demonstrate that the claims were false.

He told the congregation that he was accused of several charges, including corruption, attempt to assassinate a Member of Council of state, recruiting militias and including militias in the state payroll.
