A US-based artistic group called Step Afrika is in Juba to teach step dancing to children on a cultural exchange.

The group performed on Saturday at Nyakuron Cultural Centre together with students and local artists, Bakhita Radio reported.

Step Afrika Artistic director Jakari Sherman said the main purpose of the visit was to teach students step dances to boost unity and discipline, teamwork and commitment.

The group interacted with students from a number of schools and traditional dancers.

Mr Sherman said in the Nyakuron show the students displayed the new steps they learned while the American visitors would have a go at South Sudan’s traditional dances.

Step Afrika was established in 1994 in South Africa for cultural exchanges and came to South Sudan through the US embassy.
