The Governor of Eastern Equatoria has denied an accusation that he was recruiting militias in Kapoeta East County.

Louis Lobong Lojore said the Council of States called him to Juba to answer allegations from a council member that he was recruiting militias, Radio Emmanuel reported.

He vowed to step down and face the law if the allegations were proved to be true.

Governor Lobong said the summons was unconstitutional but he testified before the Assembly Business Committee because the Council of States was in recess.

He appealed for calm until the committee investigated the allegations.

Governor Lobong said his accuser was Michael Losike.

He made the statement Tuesday upon his arrival in Torit from Juba.

Radio Emmanuel could not access the deputy speaker of the Council of States, Remy Oler, and Michael Losike to verify the allegations.
