Volunteers working with Caritas-Juba concluded on Friday a five-days training to assess needs during emergency situations.
Caritas-Juba Coordinator for Emergency Preparedness and Respond, Agnes Wasuk Sarafino, told Bakhita Radio that the need for the training came after the charity had to welcome thousands of returnees coming from Khartoum. She said most of the participants were volunteers and involved in community work.
The official added that the training prepared volunteers to assess needs during emergencies, including floods and conflicts.
Ms Wasuk said the trainees can assist Caritas during emergencies in order to respond quickly to the needs of a particular community affected by disaster.
The training was facilitated by an organisation based in the UK.
