A member of the Abyei Joint Oversight Committee has expressed concern over the agreements signed between Khartoum and Juba on post independence issues.

Edward Abyei Lino said the deal was inconclusive because it left out the key issues of Abyei, Panthau-Higlig and the borders, which play a major part in the disputes of Sudan with South Sudan, Bakhita Radio reported.

He added that he doubted whether Khartoum meant to implement the agreements it signed with Juba.

Mr Lino called on the people of Abyei to continue the struggle.

He said Khartoum wanted the resources of Abyei, not its people.

Mr Lino said the deal was an achievement to the people of South Sudan.

On Thursday, South Sudan and Sudan signed nine agreements on oil, trade, nationalities, security, debt, banking, cooperation, borders and pensions after a five-day presidential summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
