SOUTH SUDAN, UGANDA OFFER TROOPS TO AFRICAN UNION

The governments of South Sudan and Uganda contributed more soldiers to the African Union-led force hunting Ugandan rebels.

AU Ambassador Madailla speaking at the ceremony in Yambio on Tuesday revealed that the president of Central African Republic contributed with 350 soldiers to the AU force last week, Anisa FM reoprted.

He said the AU has now a joint force of 5,000 soldiers to catch Joseph Kony and his Lord’s Resistance Army in Central Africa.

Mr Madailla thanked the Western Equatoria government for hosting both the national and international forces to carry on the anti-LRA operations.

US Ambassador to South Sudan, Susan Page, reaffirmed the US firm support to the AU joint force to tackle the LRA’s atrocities in the affected regions of Central Africa.

She said 100 US military advisors were currently based in Nzara to train battalion commanders.
