Seven people were injured in a brawl over the forced pregnancy of a girl in Pankiir Boma of Wanhalel Payam, Tonj South County.
Criminal Investigation Department officer Masaad Mayor Beny told Don Bosco FM that the incident occurred due to the cultural tradition of forcing girls into marriage through rape.He said the injured were taken to Thiet Payam Clinic for treatment and the suspects are in prison pending investigations.
Mr Mayor appealed to the communities to change the mentality of beating and conflicting with one another over girls and cows and urged them to unite together for the development of the nation.
He advocate for a change of attitudes to bring up the county to peaceful co-existence with neighbouring counties of Warrap and Lakes State.
This year, Tonj South County faced some insecurity threats from Lakes State communities and other internal conflicts.
