Fifty-fife ex-combatants from Western Bahr El Ghazal were trained in different fields for three months and learned how set a good economic programme and increase incomes.
The program was carried out by the Demobilization, Disarmament and Reintegration (DDR) Commission in partnership with World Concern, Voice of Hope reported.Training manager Deras Liyada said the program started in July 2012 and 19 trainees gave up along the way.
He explained that the participants who completed the training are ready to set up and manage a business in civilian life.
Mr Liyada encouraged the ex-combatants to go ahead and do good business looking after the material they received, as World Concern will follow up their activities and evaluate the results.
Former soldier Victoria Emanuel congratulated the DDR Commission and World Concern for the good knowledge they acquired on business management.
She wants to open her own restaurant because she got basic tools and funds to start the business.
DDR reporting Officer Olayiwola Awolowo told the trainees that God and hard work were the keys to their success.
Youth and culture state minister Arkangelo Anyar Anyar urged the ex-combatants not to spoil the little money they received as a start-up but to plan properly and invest it in the business planned during the training.
He added that the people should acknowledge the support given by the NGOs but should also work hard to put in practice what they learned instead of asking for more help.
