Western Equatoria State Legislative Assembly on Wednesday elected a new speaker and his deputy after the former speaker handed in his resignation.
Speaker Bukulu Edward Mendson presented his resignation letter but remained a member of the assembly.The House elected Bage James Elisa, who was the deputy speaker, as the new speaker, Anisa FM reported.
Speaker Bage appreciated the trust MP expressed by voting him to the post.
He promised to render the best services based on his ability.
Hannah Lona Bona is the new deputy speaker.
The new appointees took the oath of office in the presence Deputy Governor Sapana Abui, High Court judges, and the members from the National and State assemblies.
