A two-hour heavy rain has flooded parts of Bentiu, the capital of Unity State.
Local journalist Boniface Taban told CRN over the phone that up to a thousand families were affected by the floods.He said people were very busy today digging trenches to dry their homes.
Mr Taban said floods have affected other areas of Unity state for the last months.
NGOs are assisting the affected families and helping with drainage work.
The Catholic Radio Network (CRN) is a media project constituted by community-based radio stations broadcasting in Frequency Modulation from Juba, Yei, Torit, Yambio, Rumbek, Tonj, Wau, and Malakal. For its outreach, CRN has a potential audience of about seven million people, considering the influx of returnees to South Sudan after the Sudan Population Census 2008.
