The Ministry of Health in Central Equatoria is making preparations to face any possible outbreak of Ebola in the State.

Public Health Epidemiologist Moses Mila told CRN that the ministry is activating a health monitoring system at all state borders and at Juba International Airport.

He said the Ministry is strengthening health education and raising awareness of health personnel throughout the state about Ebola virus.

Dr Milla said the Ministry is also coordinating monitoring plans with Kajo Keji, Yei and Morobo counties.

He said the county authorities should report suspected cases to the Ministry immediately.

The epidemiologist added that the counties are monitoring the situation and any suspected cases of unusual bleeding should be isolated immediately to avoid further infections.

Dr Milla called on the public to be alert, monitor the situation and report any suspected cases to health personnel.

He advised citizens to bring any person suspected to be suffering from Ebola contamination to the nearest health facility.

He confirmed that up to now there is no Ebola case registered in South Sudan, but the Ministry is monitoring the situation.

Last Tuesday, the national Health Minister Michael Milly Hussein told the press that Ugandan health authorities confirmed the outbreak of an Ebola virus epidemic in the West of the country and in Kampala.
