A SPLM official has called on the citizens of South Sudan to uphold peace with their neighbouring countries to build the nation.
Secretary-general Pagan Amum Okech was the guest in this morning’s Bakhita Radio Wakeup Juba show. He said despite of all that despite what the Khartoum government did the people of South Sudan want to live in peace with all neighbours including the Sudan. He underlined that South Sudanese people want to focus their energy and full resources to build the country.
He added that South Sudan just wants a bright future.
Mr Amum said South Sudan had been in difficulties with its neighbours since the time of slavery.
He added that from those days up to date life was never easy for the people of South Sudan.
He explained that historic difficulties made the people of South Sudan wiser in dealing with their neighbours and eventually they got their freedom.
Mr Amum said South Sudan and Sudan are still to find a full agreement on the pending issues, including a solution to the Ngok Dinka communities of Abyei.
He added that when the final agreement is reached the two countries will take full control of their territories.
