A convoy of nine trucks each carrying 225 tons of food stuffs arrived this morning in Wau, capital of Western Bahr El Ghazal State.
The food stuff is fot soldiers in Bahr El Ghazal and Upper Nile.The initiative is the first contribution of South Sudan Popular Committee for Border Mobilization with the help of South Sudan Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture to arrive in Wau.
Jacob Kenyi Lejo is the Member of Parliament in Juba. He said the convoy targets Bentiu in Unity state, Raja in Western Bahr El Ghazal and Aweil in Northern Bahr El Ghazal.
He added that the trucks were carrying different food commodities including sugar.
Mr Kenyi added that there is enough food items still left in the store in Juba but limited funds could not allow them to hire more trucks to transport the goods to the frontline.
Governor Rizik Zachariah Hassan welcomed the initiative.
He said the state has already contributed in order to aid the soldiers at the frontline.
Mr Zachariah called on the commissioner of Raja County, Rizik Dominic, to head the convoy to Raja so that they also witness the border situation there.
Four trucks have already set for Awiel as five waits to travel to Raja.
The State High Committee for Bborder Mobilization in Western Bahr El- Ghazal is still soliciting for more funds to support this initiative.
