CIVIL SOCIETY OF CONDUCTS WORKSHOP ON LAND ISSUES

The Western Bahr El Ghazal State Civil Society Land Alliance conducted in Wau a workshop concerning land issues.

The event was attended by 32 people from different NGOs and Government institutions.

It aimed at raising awareness of the community and state authorities on land contracts.

Ramathan Adam Ibrahim is the Chairperson of Western Bahr El Ghazal State Civil Society Alliance. He said the body was created with an aim of bridging the gap between the community and the government on land issues.

Mr Adam added that the alliance tries to help the community and the government to understand their roles and duties pertaining land.

He explained that the Alliance promotes dialogue whenever there are land disputes.

Mr Adam said there are some key messages about land that the communities should know such as the usage of land and that the information about land are taken from the Land Act of the state’s Constitution.

He noted that land should be a source of harmony rather than conflict.

Mr Adam said field agents will do the follow-up to see to it that the information given in this workshop is put into practice.

He urged all the citizens to follow the right channel when they need to acquire land documents.
