Wau County caretaker commissioner has raised concern over land selling and called on the citizens to reserve it for future generations.

John Peter Miskin made this comments yesterday while addressing the participants at the Transitional Constitution review conference in Wau, Voice of Hope reported.

He stated that the Transitional Constitution has spelled out clearly the land article and it should be dealt with carefully.

Mr Peter revealed that they had convened a meeting the previous week that included the local chiefs and the ministry of physical infrastructure and called upon the state to restrict land allocation in Western Bahr El Ghazal.

He stated that individuals in the state are now using the land for commercial purposes where one acquires more than two plots with an aim of selling it for profit.

Mr Peter said people in Wau should know to whom they are selling land and should put in mind that the coming generation also needs land.

He added that there is need to enlighten the population on the importance of land as stated in the Constitution.

Mr Peter appealed to the entire population to take the land issue carefully and stop unnecessary selling of land.
