The Catholic Bishop of Torit called on the Church, Government and former students to restore the lost glory of Okaru.
Okaru is a school located on top of a mountain at Lowoi area of Kudo Paya in Torit County; once it had magnificent structures and provided quality education to many leaders, Emmanuel Radio reported.Bishop Johnson Akio Mutek said Okaru was one of the first intermediary schools and seminary established by missionaries to serve the people of South Sudan but collapsed during the decades of civil war after missionaries were expelled from the Sudan in 1964.
He added that Okaru is still an important model institution for producing many personalities in the country.
Bishop Akio said he wanted to establish a youth centre in Okaru.
He called on former students to visit the place to recall their past life in the locality.
Bishop Akio said he shared the intention of reviving Okaru with Luka Manoja, the former advisor to the president and the former state governor, Emor Aloisio Ojetuk.
