Fuel shortages are affecting the transport of people and good in Tonj South County of Warrap State.

Austerity measures following the oil production shut-down in South Sudan made prices go up very fast and fuel is in short supply affecting people operating transports, clinics, radio stations and businesses.

Malok Deng Awet, in charge of Tonj Parking station, told Don Bosco FM that a 30-litter jarrican of fuel price costs 200 pounds.

He said a ticket from Tonj to Wau now costs 80 pounds but soon will go to 100 due to lack of fuel in town.

Mr Malok added vehicles will stop soon if Tonj does not get fuel.

He urged the governments of both Sudans to reach a final settlement to allow the oil to flow since the economy of both countries depends on it.

The fuel crisis in Tonj is also affecting Don Bosco FM broadcasting.
