The Sudan Peoples’ Liberation Movement has congratulated the 250 Sudanese supported militias for their wise decision to join South Sudan’s Army.

Bol Makueng is the SPLM Secretary for Information, culture and communication. He wrote in a press release that Khartoum’s quest for bloodshed does not benefit anyone except people who trade in the name of Islam in Khartoum.

He called on the Sudanese army to stop fighting the SPLA for the political and material greed of the National Congress Party and to boycott orders from President Omar Al Bashir because he encourages the killing of children and women and destruction of infrastructure.

Mr Makueng said the Sudanese army and the international community know that the SPLA keeps prisoners of war and allows them to return safely to their families while Sudan does not.

He encouraged other Sudanese army and remaining militias to report to any nearby SPLA unit and they will be treated as peacemakers.
