Thousands of civilians are searching for food on the roads of Heiban County in Nuba Mountains.
Sumeya, a mother from Tuchi, said she was searching for dura Ð sorghum Ð in order to feed her children whom she left at home without food.She added that she bought two kilos of dura in Laru area, each for 15 pounds, but it was not enough.
Mama Sumeya urged humanitarian organizations to assist the people of Nuba Mountains with some food.
Ibtesam, a young girl, called on organizations to bring humanitarian aid to the Nuba people.
She complained that she got little dura, not enough for her family because they are many.
Ibtesam said if humanitarian aid does not reach Nuba people up to August many will die of starvation.
Areas like Mendi, Tuchi, Kalkada and Timberea in Western Nuba are the most affected.
The Sudanese army is fighting against the SPLA-North in Nuba Mountains since June of last year and Khartoum does not allow relief agencies to send humanitarian aid in the area controlled by the rebels.
