SAF, the Sudan Armed Forces, are still bombing areas of Unity State just at the limit of an ultimatum imposed by the UN to cease hostilities.

The UN Security Council voted a resolution on Wednesday afternoon telling South Sudan and Sudan to stop fighting at the borders within 48 hours.

Army spokesperson Phillip Aguer Panyang told CRN that Sudanese Antonovs Thursday dropped a dozen bombs over Alok, in Unity State.

A woman and a child were seriously wounded and taken to Bentiu Hospital.

SAF also used long range artillery to shell SPLA positions in Tashwin and the shelling continued this morning.

Colonel Aguer said the Government of South Sudan has ordered the SPLA to remain in defensive positions.

He added that he hoped Khartoum would heed the call to stop hostilities too.

Colonel Aguer sai the SPLA was fighting in Raja County with rebels belonging to the Lord’s Resistance Army and not with Sudanese forces.
