South Sudan Civil Society Alliance has called on the Khartoum government to respect peace and keep a peaceful coexistence between the two neighbouring countries.

Chairperson Deng Athuai told CRN that the civil society wants to make sure that war is not escalated between South Sudan and Sudan.

He said the civil society wants peace and people from both countries are sisters and brothers.

Mr Athuai said dialogue and not war is the solution for the issues between South Sudan and Sudan.

He asked the international community to mediate and witness the negotiations between Juba and Khartoum.

Mr Athuai said the civil society is ready to support and protect civilians.

He added that the Alliance is preparing to collect money, food and other items to support the wounded and displaced by the fighting.

Mr Athuai said the civil society is behind President Salva Kiir Mayardit and supports him because he believes in peace and not in war.

Mr Athuai said President Omar Al-Bashir has no sons to die in the war and should not deceive the families of the mujahidin.

He added that South Sudan does not believe in killings.

Mr Athuai called on the South Sudanese to throw away the evil of tribalism and unite and work together as peace lovers.
