UNMISS, the UN Mission in South Sudan, hopes for peace and stability for South Sudan and cannot interfere in the current tug of war with the Sudan.

This was the message UNMISS chief, Hilde Johnson, had for a group of protesting South Sudanese who yesterday handed a letter to UN Chief Ban Ki-moon.

Ms Johnson said the mandate of the mission is not related to South Sudan-Sudan issues.

She clarified that UNMISS was started to support South Sudan to develop as a peaceful country.

Ms Johnson wished peace and stability to South Sudan.

She added that UNMISS was created to help the new nation flourish.

Ms Johnson made these statements to a group of South Sudanese that went to UNMISS headquarters in JubaÊ to deliver a letter to Ban Ki-moon asking him to apologize to President Salva Kiir Mayardit for ordering him to withdraw from Higlig.
