KIIR REGULATES OFFICIAL TRIPS ABROAD

The President of the Republic has signed a presidential decree regulating official trips abroad to reduce Government expenditure in line with the austerity budget.

The presidential decree gives regulations and guidelines for official trips of presidential advisors, national ministers and deputy ministers, state governors and ministers and senior officials travelling abroad on official duty.

The official trips have to be planned annually and approved by the Council of Ministers in order to be budgeted.

Presidential advisors, ministers, deputy ministers and governors travelling abroad cannot take with them more than two people approved by the Council of Ministers.

Office managers, personal secretaries and body-guards are not included in official delegations.

Ministers, deputy monsters and undersecretaries are not allowed to travel at the same time in official or private capacities.

Officials have to report the results of their state travels abroad.
