The head of South Sudan Anti-Corruption Commission said today officials who failed to submit their assets declaration forms before the deadline of March 31 will have to explain the delay.
John Gatwech Lul told CRN today that the Commission received over 1,590 forms from eligible persons in Juba.
He explained that the deadline ended on Saturday and many people did not hand in their forms to the Commission.
Justice Gatwech said those who come late to hand their assets declaration forms have to write an explanation letter with the reasons for the delay.
He explained that a three-member committee will review the explanations and decides weather to accept or reject them.
Justice GatwechÊ said the declaration of assets is a very serious procedure.
He urged those still with their forms to try to hand them within the grace period even though the chances of acceptance are only for those with significant reasons for the delay.
More than 10,400 forms were distributed to senior civil servants from Grade 5 and above, MPs, senior Army and organized forces officers from Colonel and above and politicians holding constitutional posts.
