The administration of the University of Bahr El Ghazal has closed the faculties of medicine and veterinary after the students staged a peaceful demonstration asking for classes to start.
Principal Isaiah Ayuel Deng told Radio Voice of Hope that the students forced the closure of the two colleges.He said he expected the students to be patient while the administration was trying to find lecturers in Khartoum.
Dr Ayuel added that he expected the students to be reasonable and not to act as a mob.
He accused them of destroying buses and planning to destroy the generator at the campus.
Amule Nickson Raphael, a students’ representative in the faculty of medicine, said the students√É≈† did not see the need of closing the faculty.
He added that they organized a peaceful demonstration to ask for lecturers for the faculties of medicine and veterinary.
Mr Nickson said the students are presenting a petition to the National Legislative Assembly in Juba about the problems of the university.
The faculties of medicine of Bahr el Ghazal University were closed down yesterday after the students held a peaceful demonstration on Monday.
