Yirol East County in Lakes State has accommodated over 6,800 returnees from 1,600 families in the past two years.

Samuel Angui Ngor is the acting Secretary of South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (SRRC) in Yirol East County. He told Good News Radio that the returnees were given plots of land and they had a good relationship with the hosting communities.

He said returnees do not have enough education and health facilities and some have problems to pay for medical services and school fees.

Mr Angui noted that the returnees are involved in local community activities and that they are already intermarrying.

He urged the Government of Lakes State and other development partners to support the returnees in the areas of education, health, water and agriculture.

Mr Angui also appealed to Government authorities in Lakes State to consider recruiting more returnees into the civil service as well as investing in economic empowerment programs for the returnees.
