COUNCIL OF MINISTERS PASSES FOUR MAJOR BILLS

Yesterday’s Council of Ministers passed four major bills presented by the national minister of justice.

Government’s spokesperson Barnaba Marial Benjamin told the press at the end of the Cabinet that the national minister of Justice John Luk Jok presented the AIDS Commission Bill, the Anti Money Laundry and Counter-Terrorist Financial Bill, Legal Training Institute and the Taxation Bill 2012.

The Council passed the four bills unanimously.

Dr Marial explained that the Cabinet decided to increase the taxes on tobacco and alcohol so their prices will rise substantially.

The minister said that the Cabinet decided to give to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs 50 million dollars to repatriate Southerners from Sudan.

Dr Marial announced that the media bills were in the ministry of justice ready to be tabled in the parliament.
