Chinese companies are financing two major projects in South Sudan’s power sector worthy of almost 1.8 billion US Dollars.
The Government’s spokesperson Barnaba Marial Benjamin said the Council of Ministers confirmed two agreements with Chinese companies that will supply loans to build a dam in Buden and extend the power grid from Ethiopia to South Sudan.The dam is a long term project that costs 1.4 billion US dollars while the line to bring electricity from Ethiopia to South Sudan is financed with a loan of 332 million dollars.
