The Catholic Church Wau today started a three-day diocesan assembly to prepare its pastoral and strategic plans.
Nineteen heads of Church institutions and parishes in the diocese of Wau started presenting reports on their performance and challenges, Radio Voice of Hope reported.Bishop Rudolf Deng Majak of Wau said the diocesan assembly will study different ideas put together to build a pastoral plan.
Bishop Deng said the Church both in the Sudan and South Sudan is one despite of the new political boundaries.
The bishop warned politicians to respect the communion of peoples who shared a common history.
Bishop Deng pointed out that the assembly represents the beginning of a long journey of service delivery in the diocese.
He explained that some recommendations that will come out of the assembly will not be harried but have to pass through proper methods of implementation.
Bishop Deng added that the diocesan assembly will discuss the vision, mission and values for the strategic plan.
About 50 participants from Church institutions are attending the assembly that takes place at the PaLiCa centre.
