The inter-state road linking Juba and Rumbek will be asphalted soon and plans are being readied.
Lakes State Governor Chol Tong Mayay told journalist that the necessary funds are being raised by the Minister of Roads and Bridges to tarmac Juba-Rumbek road and a Chinese company is already carrying out the necessary studies.He described the project as vital and important, because the highway links the capital with other states in Greater Bahr El Ghazal.
Eng Tong expressed support for the ongoing demolition of houses in Rumbek by Rumbek Central County surveyors.
He said Rumbek has city plans that are to be respected and if residents built on roads their houses will be demolished.
The Governor added that the swearing-in ceremony of the members of Lakes State Legislative Assembly will take place in a couple of days.
