Members of the National Legislature start this morning a five-lectures series on Catholic Social Teaching.

David Hollenbach, a Jesuit priest from the United States, will deliver the lectures under the theme “The Challenge of Human Dignity, Justice and the Common Good in the Republic of South Sudan.”

Fr. Hollenbach will break down the main theme in five lectures.

This morning he will preset two themes: Respect for dignity an ethnic identity as keys to building national unity and Justice, the common good, and the use of resources to benefit all.

Tomorrow’s topics are: Human rights, empowerment of the people and building sustainable democracy and Civil society, governmental accountability and the dangers of corruption.

The lectures conclude on Saturday with the theme Restorative justice, reconciliation, and building long-term peace.

The five lecture series to the members of the National Legislative Assembly and Council of States are sponsored by CSR (Catholic Relief Services) and Solidarity with South Sudan in collaboration with the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba.
