Central Equatoria Women Union joined the rest of the world to celebrate Women’s International Day under the theme Empowerment of rural women to end hunger and works together to end violence against women.
Jennifer Kujang Abe, the Union’s chairperson, told the people who gathered to celebrate the event at Nyakuron Cultural Centre, in Juba, that women are affected by finance, politics, health care, food security and many other issues.She said the challenges could be overcome if all people worked together towards empowering women and granting their rights.
Ms Kujang called for lasting changes that contribute to settle women’s problems.
She said although there were many challenges to empower rural women, they should start for themselves.
The Women’s Day celebration stared with a procession from Hai Mobil to Nyakuron Cultural Centre.
