The Catholic Bishop of Yei announced that Lainya County is to receive a number of foreign missionaries next month.
Bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe said two missionary priests and one brother will be stationed in Lainya, Radio Easter reported.He added that if their work is successful Lainya County will become a parish.
The Bishop said the missionaries need accommodation, security and other essential support to start their pastoral and spiritual activities.
He added that the three missionaries are a relief to the Catholic Diocese of Yei that is short of priests and religious men.
The three missionaries belong to the Divine Word Society, also known as SVD. The two priests are from India and DR Congo and the brother from Indonesia.
