The Retired Bishop of Torit has called on South Sudanese to reconcile in order to create God’s family in South Sudan.
Bishop Parid Taban issued the call during the celebration of his 75 years yesterday at Holy Trinity Kuron Peace Village, in Kapoeta East County of Eastern Equatoria.Over one thousand people joined Bishop Taban to praise God for his 75 years in a colourful celebration at Kuron Youth Centre under the theme of reconciliation, Radio Emmanuel reported.
Bishop Taban told the crowd that South Sudanese need to reconcile and promote peace in order to develop the new nation.
He said reconciliation is possible if people and their property are well protected and citizens are sensitized to be peacemakers through peace building.
Bishop Taban appealed to the government to improve living standard in the country by bringing services to the people.
He called on the Lou Nuer and Murle communities of Jonglei State as well as the Acholi and Madi of Eastern Equatoria State to reconcile and love each other as one people.
Bishop Johnson Akio Mutek of Torit in a message to mark the event called for a continuous dedication to the service of the Lord in order to overcome different challenges.
Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro of Tombura-Yambio, Vicar General Nicholas Kiir of Juba Archdiocese and a number of priests of Torit attended Bishop Taban’s diamond Jubilee in Kuron.
State governors Luois Lobong Lojore of Eastern Equatoria and Joseph Bangasi Bakasoro of Western Equatoria, SPLM deputy secretary-general Anne Itto and the Norwegian and Dutch ambassadors to South Sudan were among the officials at the celebration.
