Tonj hygiene has declined and is putting residents in danger.

Assistant Tonj Mayor Mario Lau said the rate of cleanliness of the town is so low that diseases are rising.

He added that the hygiene is part of a peacefully environment and people should put more effort to keep the environment clean for peaceful co-existence.

Mr Lau said people should keep themselves clean to avoid diseases such as cholera, typhoid and meningitis in the rainy season in February and March.

He added that this year’s general cleanliness is not good compared to 2011.

He urged the community, including traders, to keep their places clean, like restaurants, shops and houses.
