The Yei River County Education Director pointed out that participation of the local community towards education of their children was poor.

Charles Lomuri Justin said his department toured all five payams of the County to sensitize the Local communities about their perception and importance of education.

He said many challenges facing education in the payams include poor teachers’ code of conduct.

Others go drunk to school and do not follow regulations.

Mr Lomuri added that the people in the payams complained that the teachers do not educate their children well and that they are not interested to support education in rural areas.

He said the report from the tour indicated that most of the rural schools opened late.

Mr Lomuri explained that the objective of the tour was to sensitize the rural communities about the importance of education and the role of parents to ensure that children regularly go to school and are supported.

He appealed to the communities to consolidate their efforts to face all the education challenges.
