The Central Equatoria state government wants officials and employees to go to their villages to cultivate in order to boost food production.
Speaking to Bakhita Radio this morning in Juba, Central Equatoria Information minister Francis Barson Yousa Ladu, said the government offered the state employees five free hours on Fridays to travel to their villages for cultivation. He explained that from tomorrow onwards the state’s employees will work from 8:00 AM to 12:00 Noon every Friday, after which they go home to prepare to travel to their various counties including Kajo-Keji and Morobo, so that they may work in the fields on Saturday.
Mr Yousa said the order is not compulsory but any state official and employee who does not adhere to it will face some disciplinary measures.
He advised the state employees not to misuse the hours offered for cultivation by relaxing in Juba.
He added that the elites are going to remain in Juba but they are going to cultivate in their villages to show leadership and also because there is no land for digging here.
