Youths are the greatest group occupying Yei’s prison cells mostly due to adultery and theft cases.
Chrispo Amin, the director of Yei Prison, told Radio Easter that for the last three years the biggest age group in the prison was that of 12 to 24 year-olds due to adultery related issues.Mr Amin said the Yei prison currently accommodates 177 inmates and 40 percent of them committed adultery and another 30 percent were arrested for theft.
Mr Amin urged the youths in Yei to go back to their homes and work hard with their families in order to raise money to marry peacefully when the age comes.
Mr Amin appealed to parents to handle issues of adultery and marriage at home before referring their children to the courts and prisons.
