A foreign medical expert has urged the Government of South Sudan to invite more expatriates to work in the sector in order to boost health care in the new country.
Giannino Busato is a specialist in anaesthesia and intensive care and worked in Uganda, DR Congo and South Sudan. He told Bakhita Radio that although there are already some expatriates working in South Sudan, the country needs more specialists to boost the much needed health services in the country.He explained that expatriates should work while local people receive medical training.
He added that South Sudan needs more health schools.
Dr. Busato said there are many young and capable people who want to work in the health sector but first they should complete at least a Diploma course and three to four years of medical studies.
Dr. Busato worked in Yirol and Lui medical facilities, in South Sudan. He has also worked for more than 50 years in Uganda and DR Congo.
