The Catholic Bishop of Torit has praised the Ikwotos County community for reconciling their differences and reaching a peaceful compromise.

Intellectuals were the first group to mend their differences on the last day of Ikwotos Peace and Reconciliation Conference aimed at bringing harmony among the seven communities in the county, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Bishop Johnson Akio Mutek, who blessed the resolutions in Ikwotos, said it was remarkable that the seven communities agreed to forgive and forget their past differences.

Bishop Akio explained that the seven communities in Ikwotos chartered out ways to live and work together and to develop the county after long running differences since the elections.

He added that issues of transparency and accountability were also discussed during the conference.

Bishop Akio noted that South Sudan faces many challenges on accountability and the Ikwotos communities tasked their leaders for their credibility.

The three-day conference started on Wednesday last week and the resolutions were blessed on Saturday.
