The Catholic church in Thiet, Warrap State, yesterday was blessed and dedicated to St. John Bosco.
The church’s blessing was part of the historic visit of St. Don Bosco’s relic to South Sudan, Radio Don Bosco reported.Thiet is the biggest substation of Sacred Heart parish in Tonj, and the new church accommodates over 1,000 people.
Fr. Ferrington, the Salesian delegate superior in Sudan and South Sudan, said the church was built but now it needs the support of people to become a real church.
During his homily, he urged the people to allow their children, boys and girls, to become who they want to be in the future, including priests, brothers and sisters.
Valentino Manut Aduor, a young man from Thiet, expressed his gratitude to the Salesian family in Tonj for building the new church.
He said young people can create good leaderships if they follow the example of Don Bosco.
Mr Manut added that today’s generation needs people who embrace education and fight illiteracy.
Akuol Atong Anei expressed her gratitude for the visit of Don Bosco’s relic saying it was is a great opportunity to receive the saint in her remote area.
She urged girls to accept the vocation to sisterhood adding that cows and other material things should not prevent them from achieving their goals and wishes.
Ms Atong urged parents to allow their children to follow their own calls and go beyond cows and money.
