South Sudanese have been urged to trust the missionaries and to support them in their service among them.

Rose Farina, a member of Salesian Sisters of Tonj Mission, told Good News Radio that the numbers of local clergy and religious in the new nation are still a challenge and called South Sudanese to develop trust in the Church through their support for expatriate missionaries serving in the country.

She said the presence of St. Don Bosco’s relic in South Sudan enhances the realization of true independence and national unity.

Sr Rose added that St. Don Bosco lived at a time when his nation, Italy, was striving for independence and his ministry among the youth contributed to the autonomy of his country.
