The prices of much needed comedies in Juba have remained the same after high demand of Christmas season passed.

Bakhita Radio visited some shops to find out whether there was a reduction in prices after Christmas demand forced prices upwards.

Khadija Chandiru owns an agri-business shop in Konyokonyo market. She said prices remained the same because the demand for her goods continues to rise.

She added she wants to have more clients and increase sales this year.

Kuteng David said prices would continue to rise because of the ever growing demands in Juba.

He added that it was difficult for traders to reduce prices because consumers would think their goods were of poor quality.

Nyanmum Deng is a shopper at Konyokonyo. She said prices have not dropped and consumers are compelled to pay because there is nowhere to get cheaper goods.

She added that there are fewer customers after Christmas and the market is empty.

Consumers said they saw no difference between the years 2011 and 2012 because the cost of living is still rising and life is becoming harder by the day.

The Government has streamlined the tax collection system and reduced taxes on essential good but consumers are not benefiting yet from these measures meant to reduce the cost of living in the country.
