The national ministry of health has announced that it will send a team to Pibor County, Jonglei State, to assess the sanitarian situation after the recent inter-tribal clashes in the area.

This morning, minister Michael Milly Hussen held meeting with both national and internal NGOs working in the medical field in South Sudan.

He said there is an urgent need to send the medical personnel into Pibor to take care of those affected by the fighting and avoid further loss of lives due to lack of medication.

Dr. Milly said the visiting team would assess areas in Pibor, Likwangule and Boma in order to see their urgent medical needs.

He added that the team will carry medical kits and will vaccinate children against measles.

Nutritionists also integrate the team.

Tens of thousands of people took refuge in the bush and spent more than one week without proper food, clean water and shelter due to the Lou-Nuer attack to Pibor County.
