A civil society group has called on the people of South Sudan to end inter-tribal violence and focus on building the new country.
Concerned Citizen X South Sudan organized today a march to mark the seventh anniversary of the peace agreement and called South Sudanese to stop inter-tribal clashes.Ayom Wol, spokesperson of Concerned Citizen X South Sudan, told Bakhita Radio that the people of South Sudan need to focus on development rather than on inter-ethnic violence.
She said the CPA, the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, was famous across the world and should symbolize peace among the people of the new nation.
She added that South Sudanese people should care about citizens suffering in every corner of the country, irrespective of tribe, geographical location and religion.
Ms Wol urged the people of South Sudan to take full responsibility to arrest problems in the country, saying they should not wait for NGOs and foreigners to address the problems of South Sudan.
Ms Wol added that individual efforts could also help to arrest recycling inter-tribal violence in some parts of the country.
She said two million people sacrificed themselves for the freedom of South Sudan and such sacrifice should not be betrayed by actions of violence and inter-tribal clashes.
Over 100 mostly young people marched from Nyakuron Cultural Centre to Dr. John Garang’s Mausoleum through Juba University chanting the slogans “One people one nation, stop violence and inter-tribal violence in south Sudan.”
