Pibor County Commissioner has appealed for urgent humanitarian assistance as seven people have already died of hunger in Eastern Jonglei.

Joshua Konyi told CRN News over a poor line from Pibor that so far the county distributed 147 bags of sorghum among the people affected by the Lou-Nuer attack.

He said the displaced are returning and the situation is very bad: the food is not enough and seven people died of hunger.

Mr. Konyi said no relief aid has yet reached Pibor.

He appealed for urgent assistance to the displaced since food distribution finished five days ago.

On Friday, UNOCHA announced it was putting in place the most expensive and complex humanitarian operation in Pibor.

The area does not have proper roads and all urgent aid stuff has to be airlifted to Jonglei state.
