Police have arrested several foreigners and some South Sudanese who were lingering in Juba without identified work.

The operation was an attempt to reduce the crime rate in the city.

A police officer who asked to remain nameless told Bakhita Radio that the operation was targeting foreigners who are involved in illegal businesses including prostitution and other crimes.

Our source said some people were arrested because they do not have legal documents allowing them to enter and operate in South Sudan.

The Police prevented the reporter to speak to the arrested.

The operation focused on Juba’s Tokyo and Israel residential areas and in part of Konyo Konyo market.

It is not clear whetherthe operation would continue in other residential areas of Juba.
