Health centres in the five payams of Yei River County are lacking adequate health personnel to deliver services to the local communities especially antenatal care.

County health director in charge of the primary health units Simon Loro told Radio Easter this morning that health four centres are equipped with health personnel and midwives.

However, most primary health units lack midwives and usually are staffed with only one community health worker that has difficulties to provide antenatal care to pregnant women.

Mr Loro said Action Africa in Need is doing its best to train midwives and perfect their work.

He urged the ministry and other NGOs to train more midwives in order to cover the gaps in primary health centres.

Mr Loro appealed to the respective communities to inform his office of unusual health related problems that cannot be handled locally for better attention.
